Where does the nursing home data come from?
Supply from CMS Care Compare Provider Information, which lists every Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing home in the country, its certified beds, ownership, location and CMS 5-star rating. Demand from the US Census Bureau American Community Survey age data. Both are official federal open data. CMS updates about monthly, the ACS annually.
Does it cover assisted living?
National coverage is for certified nursing homes, because that data is federal through CMS. Assisted living is licensed state by state, so it is not in the federal file. We add assisted living market by market as each state license roll comes in. The honest position at launch is complete national coverage of certified nursing homes.
Which states does it cover?
All 50 states, because CMS and Census data are federal and national. There are about 14,700 certified nursing homes and roughly 1.57 million certified beds across the country. Wherever CMS certifies a home and the Census publishes age data, Threshold can build the picture.
Does it replace a commissioned feasibility study?
No. It tells you which sites deserve the full consultant work and which never did, for a fraction of the cost of a single report. Its figures are statistical estimates for screening, not a certified appraisal.
